  • Please share any findings or learning points for dissemination across PCNs. 🔄📣

  • Ensure GP practices allocate time or designate someone to handle MHRA alerts, CQC safety searches, medication reviews, and maintain a proper drug monitoring recall system. ⏰💊

  • Develop a shared action plan involving the practice, PCN, and PCN lead/local community pharmacist to establish safe and efficient processes. This includes:

  • Incorporating deprescribing when reviewing medications, such as reducing opioids in chronic pain management. 💊➖

  • Implementing robust systems to minimize medication harm, focusing on specific medicines like ACE inhibitors, ARBs, loop diuretics, etc. 🛡️

  • Reporting and learning from prescribing/medicines incidents. 📝📚

  • Updating Practice Repeat Prescribing processes accordingly. 🔄

  • Attending Medicines and Prescribing Network meetings for personal development, clinical supervision, and to deliver the shared action plan. 🤝📊

  • Sharing learning and best practices on medicines safety at quarterly face-to-face network meetings. 📈🧠

  • Arrange and participate in quarterly PCN meetings with member practices, including:

  • Inviting the PCN Community Pharmacy lead and actively working to identify one if vacant. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

  • Sharing key learning points on medicines safety, overprescribing, shared decision making, and case review learning. 📋📌
